Orah Brandt Park
About Orah Brandt Park
Park Overview
Tucked away on Cherry Lane, Orah Brandt Park spans 30 acres in Nampa. Established in 2018 and set to be completed by summer 2024, this relatively new green space has become popular for outdoor activities and community gatherings. Clean, welcoming, and family-friendly, it's the kind of place where you can spend an entire day without checking your watch once.
Playground and Water Features
The inclusive playground here isn't your average swing-and-slide setup. The in-ground trampoline is a standout feature that children particularly enjoy. The playground thoughtfully includes equipment for children of all abilities, including a spinning carousel with wheelchair spaces that ensures everyone gets to join in the fun. Parents can breathe a little easier thanks to the soft, spongy rubber surface that cushions inevitable tumbles.
When summer temperatures soar, the wetlands-themed splash pad is a popular place to cool off. Operating from Memorial Day through Labor Day, it's larger than other splash pads in town - actually, it's the only public splash pad in Nampa, which explains why it draws crowds on hot days.
Natural Spaces
Take a moment to stop and smell the roses - literally - in the park's rose garden, or spread out a blanket on one of the many open green spaces. If you're looking to get your steps in, there's a one-mile walking loop with shorter options for those pressed for time. The trees are still growing into their potential, so shade is limited for now, but in a few years, those young saplings will transform into welcome sun blockers.
Sports Facilities
Athletic types have plenty of options here. The six pickleball courts attract enthusiasts of America's fastest-growing sport, while traditional ballers can shoot hoops on the basketball court. There's also a diamond baseball/softball field and a soccer field for team sports. Frisbee fans can try the 9-hole disc golf course - good for a quick round that won't take your entire afternoon. The course, like other areas of the park, is maturing over time.
Gathering Areas
Planning a get-together? The park offers three shaded picnic shelters and a large picnic area that you can reserve for events. Two shelters sit conveniently close to the playground and splash pad - prime real estate for birthday parties where kids can play while adults chat. During summer evenings, the park occasionally transforms into an outdoor cinema with free movies under the stars.
Amenities
No need to plan your visit around bathroom breaks - the park features clean, modern restrooms near the playground. Drinking fountains scattered throughout help you stay hydrated during Idaho's warmer months. The spacious parking lot means you won't have to circle endlessly looking for a spot, even on busy weekends. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome too - just keep them leashed and be sure to clean up after them.
Accessibility
The park designers clearly prioritized inclusivity, with handicap-accessible facilities and thoughtful touches like a buddy bench to foster connections. The flat terrain and paved pathways make getting around a breeze for everyone, regardless of mobility level.
Community Impact
Since its opening, Orah Brandt Park has become an important part of Nampa community life. It offers both recreational facilities and a place for social connection. As the trees mature and the park develops, it will continue to serve the community well.
