West Park

Historical Significance

West Park is a 40-acre public park managed by the Joliet Park District. As one of the earliest parks in Joliet, it holds historical significance in the community, serving as a recreational hub since its establishment.

The park is known for its beautiful natural setting, with open green spaces, wooded areas, and trails that offer a serene escape for visitors.

Disc Golf

The park is particularly notable for its role in the history of disc golf, being the site of one of Illinois' oldest courses. The disc golf course, originally developed in 1979, features 18 holes with concrete tees and ChainStar Pro targets, making it a key destination for disc golfers in the region.

Over the years, the course has undergone several redesigns to improve its layout and use of the terrain.

Amenities and Activities

West Park provides a variety of amenities and activities for guests of all ages. It offers hiking and walking trails through its scenic landscapes and includes cross-country skiing paths during the winter months.
