Located in East Peoria, Neumann Park is a charming public space managed by the Fon du Lac Park District. The real draw here? The Fon du Lac Farm Park that transports you right back to 1920s rural Central Illinois - no time machine needed!

This six-acre piece of history within the park lets you get up close with live farm animals (always a hit with the little ones), explore a classic red barn, zip down a silo slide, and check out the country kitchen museum. Just keep in mind that while the main park stays open year-round, the farm park operates seasonally - so you might want to double-check those opening dates before promising the kids a barnyard adventure.

Chill Spots and Picnic Paradise

The park offers a nice mix of open, grassy areas and shady, tree-lined spots where you can spread out a blanket or use one of the many benches and tables. It's popular for birthday celebrations and weekend picnics.

If you want to grill, there's a grilling area conveniently placed near the picnic spots. Planning something special? You can reserve the shelters for your gathering, giving you a dedicated space away from the city noise - meant for those family reunions or friend meetups that need a bit more elbow room.

Playground Heaven

Kids will be in their element at Neumann Park's two expansive playground areas. The main playground is impressively large with multiple slides and swings that'll keep the energy-filled older kids busy for hours. Meanwhile, the smaller playground area is perfectly tailored for toddlers and the younger crowd.

What's especially thoughtful is the ADA accessible playground that ensures children of all abilities can join in the fun. Everything is well-maintained and safe, but it's worth noting there isn't much shade over the play areas - so sun hats and sunscreen are your friends during those summer visits.

Good to Know Before You Go

While you'll need to pay a small fee to enter the farm park portion, Neumann Park itself is completely free. Dog lovers can bring their four-legged friends as long as they stay leashed (just be mindful of keeping some distance from the petting zoo animals).

You'll discover clean restrooms within the park, plus some portable toilets added during recent renovations. And no need to circle around looking for parking - there's plenty of free spaces available, making it easy to visit with the whole crew.
