Park Overview

Since opening in 1971, Christina Oaks Park has been providing locals with a peaceful spot to unwind and play. This cozy 2-acre green space in Indianapolis offers a welcome break from city life.

While it's surrounded by the energy of the city, step inside and you'll find yourself in a more relaxed world. It's well-suited for families or anyone looking to spend some time outdoors, although we should mention that some of the facilities could use a little TLC.

Amenities

This pocket park packs in a few key features that make it worth visiting. Kids will enjoy the playground equipment, complete with slides that'll keep the little ones entertained. If you're into shooting hoops, you'll appreciate the full-sized basketball court where you can work on your game or get in some exercise without having to hunt for a gym.

There are several benches scattered around the park where you can sit and catch your breath, although on sunny days you might find yourself wishing for more shaded spots. One of the coolest features has to be the Little Free Library cabinet - a charming community book exchange maintained by the Ben Davis Lions Club volunteers and placed by Wayne Township 4-H. It's these little touches that give the park its character.

The open green spaces here are great for spreading out a blanket and enjoying some downtime. While there aren't any official picnic tables, the lawn areas work just fine for informal get-togethers or a quick lunch break. It's nothing fancy, but sometimes that's exactly what you need - a simple, convenient outdoor space right in the neighborhood.

One thing to note: you won't find any restroom facilities here, so plan accordingly. The park sits close to homes in the area, making it an easy stop for nearby residents. Some parts of the park could definitely benefit from a bit more regular maintenance and community care, but overall, Christina Oaks offers a pleasant little escape when you need some fresh air without venturing far from the city.
