Historic Monuments
The park's most prominent feature is the Rosedale Memorial Arch, a World War I monument designed by architect John Leroy Marshall and constructed in 1923-24.
This hilltop was originally known as Mount Marty in honor of Albert Marty, a real estate developer who donated the land to the city. During World War I, it served as a gathering point for Kansas National Guard troops before they departed for France.
Trail System
Mount Marty Park includes a network of trails known as the Rozarks Nature Trails. These trails span about 4.5 miles and wind through wooded areas, providing excellent opportunities for hiking and exploration.
The terrain is moderately challenging, featuring steep and narrow sections as well as rustic handmade bridges that enhance the outdoor adventure experience.
Community Involvement
Today, the park is maintained by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas' parks and recreation department.
Local community organizations, such as the Rosedale Development Association, often organize volunteer cleanup events and activities to enhance the park's appeal and encourage visitation.
