Summercrest Park spans 13 peaceful acres of neighborhood greenspace in Overland Park, Kansas, and its connection to the Tomahawk Creek bike and hike trail is one of the best reasons to visit. Shaded paths meander through wooded sections, and a serene pond with ducks paddling about gives you a spot to sit and clear your mind.

Come fall, the trees transform into a canvas of reds and golds, making it an ideal backdrop for those Instagram-worthy photos. It's a clean, quiet park with plenty of open areas and recreational spots to explore.

Play Areas

Kids can burn off energy at the simple but fun playground that was added in 2010 (thanks to a local bond measure that upgraded the park facilities).

The Pond

The park's shallow pond (typically no deeper than 2 feet) features a charming bridge and several cozy seating spots along the shoreline where you can relax and watch for wildlife. While it's not deep enough for decent fishing, the pond creates a beautiful focal point and attracts various waterfowl that add life to the scenery.

Park Amenities

When hunger strikes, you'll find several picnic tables tucked under shade trees - fantastic for a family lunch or casual meetup with friends. Benches are also scattered throughout the grounds, offering plenty of spots to rest your feet and soak in the surroundings.

Before You Visit

Keep in mind that Summercrest Park doesn't have visible restroom facilities or a designated parking area. Most people access the park via the connecting trails or simply walk over from nearby neighborhoods. A little planning ahead will make your visit more enjoyable.
