Linwood Park South

Historic Origins

Linwood Park South, located in Wichita, Kansas, spans 51.12 acres and is part of a larger park system established in 1887 through a land donation from local residents. The park is a well-known hub for outdoor recreation and community activities, offering diverse facilities.

It is also home to the Park Department Greenhouse and Nursery, which features 90 different tree species introduced as part of a diversification effort in 1950.

Recreation Center and Facilities

The park includes the Linwood Recreation Center, a facility that hosts various programs, classes, facility rentals, and special events.

For sports enthusiasts, Linwood Park South provides a wide range of athletic facilities, including a baseball/softball diamond, a football field equipped with bleachers and a scoreboard, two tennis courts, 24 horseshoe courts, five tetherball courts, and a sand volleyball court.
