Park Overview

Located in northwest Wichita, Orchard Park has been a community treasure since 1955. This spacious green space is both a place to unwind and get active, with various options for visitors. The park combines natural areas with various facilities that accommodate people of different ages and abilities.

Inclusive Recreation

What truly sets Orchard Park apart is the Miracle Field - Kansas' first baseball diamond specifically designed for children and adults with disabilities. It's nice to see such inclusive facilities in our community.

There are plenty of sports facilities as well. The park features a well-maintained tennis court with lighting for those evening matches, a basketball court for pickup games, a soccer field where future stars practice their skills, and a beginner-friendly skatepark complete with ramps and rails for those looking to work on their tricks.

Family Amenities

Got kids? The playground here isn't just fun - it's built with safety in mind, featuring a rubber surface that's gentle on little knees. When summer heats up, the swimming area becomes the place to be with its wading pool for the little ones, climbing wall for the adventurous, water slide for thrill-seekers, and diving boards for those brave enough to take the plunge.

You'll find shaded spots nearby to catch your breath, and vending machines when snack time calls - little details that make a day at the pool so much more enjoyable.

Recreation Center

The Orchard Recreation Center stands as the heart of the park, offering program options for everyone from toddlers to seniors. Need space for an event? They handle facility rentals too. A particularly nice touch is their participation in the Good Neighbor Nutrition Program, providing hot lunches for senior citizens in the area.

Park Features

Staying active is easy here with walking trails that wind through the grounds and plenty of open green spaces ideal for frisbee, picnics, or simply soaking up some sunshine.

No need to worry about parking - there are three paved lots with plenty of spaces. The park was developed with help from Land and Water Conservation Funds and has been serving the community for decades.
