Medora Park

Park Overview

Medora Park keeps its gates open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily - plenty of time to squeeze in some outdoor enjoyment, whether you're an early bird or prefer evening visits. This cozy 4-acre green retreat on Pendleton Road is part of the Louisville Metro Parks system and serves as a modest but welcoming neighborhood haven.

While Medora might not be the largest park in Louisville's collection, it packs in a surprising variety of amenities that cater to different interests and age groups. It's one of those small-but-mighty community spaces that represents a neighborhood gathering spot.

Recreational Facilities

Medora Park offers several casual sports options for those looking to get active. The park's baseball area features a backstop for impromptu games - great for a friendly neighborhood matchup or some batting practice.

Soccer enthusiasts will appreciate the informal soccer field, although you'll need to bring your own goals. This DIY approach actually adds to the charm, allowing the space to transform based on community needs.

The basketball court is arguably the star attraction here, drawing local kids and teens throughout the week. It's often the busiest spot in the park, with pickup games regularly forming during peak hours.

Playground Area

For the little ones, Medora offers a straightforward playground setup centered around a set of swings. The equipment leans toward the basic side, so if you're visiting with very young children, keep in mind that the play options are somewhat limited compared to Louisville's larger parks.

The playground area provides a simple space for kids to burn off energy, though parents of toddlers might find the facilities a bit sparse for the under-five crowd.
