About Anna T. Jordan Community Park
Park Overview
Located in Baton Rouge, Anna T. Jordan Community Park stretches across nearly 40 acres of green space that has become an important community fixture. This location offers enough activities for full-day visits and is managed by BREC (that's the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge).
Over the years, it's become popular for everything from family reunions to birthday celebrations, becoming part of local life and history.
Recreation Center
In 2017, the recreation center was expanded with an additional 6,400 square feet of space. Now you can hit the fitness center with its modern equipment for a good workout, schedule meetings in the sleek conference room, or catch up on some tech time in the computer lab.
The gymnasium was nicely renovated - it's fully air-conditioned (a blessing in Louisiana summers!), has a resurfaced floor, and includes a dressing room for those using the stage for performances.
ADTour Historic Vermilionville
Vermilionville sits on a beautiful tree-covered 23-acre site on the banks of the Bayou Vermilion with 19 attractions, including seven restored original homes with costumed artisans that provide demonstrations on crafts performed by Native Americans and early settlers. Vermilionville provides its guests with a place for history, music, food, cultural exchange, historic architecture and much more.
Outdoor Amenities
The park offers many outdoor options. Basketball enthusiasts can choose between indoor and outdoor courts, while tennis players have dedicated tennis courts for their matches.
During summer months, the swimming pool opens with attentive lifeguards keeping watch - great for cooling off when the Louisiana heat cranks up. For evening activities, the multi-purpose fields come with lighting so the fun doesn't have to end when the sun goes down.
Families with kids will love that this park houses one of Baton Rouge's largest playgrounds, thoughtfully designed with areas for different age groups from toddlers to teenagers. It's a good spot where kids can play while you relax nearby.
Community Facilities
Planning a gathering? The park's pavilion is available for rental and can host up to 40 people, complete with tables and electrical outlets - making it ideal for those family get-togethers.
For more casual meet-ups, you'll find multiple picnic areas scattered across the grounds. If you're seeking a quieter moment, the garden/arboretum offers a peaceful retreat to connect with nature.
Features like shaded play areas and improved pedestrian access make Anna T. Jordan Community Park an important recreational space for the Baton Rouge community.
