Dorothy & David Ramler Park was once nothing more than a vacant parking lot until local residents and the City of Boston joined forces to transform it as part of the city's "Open Space Acquisition Policy." Since its 2004 opening, this half-acre haven at 130 Peterborough Street in Boston's Fenway neighborhood has served as a quiet escape from the surrounding urban energy.

To preserve its tranquil vibe, you won't find dogs, smoking, alcohol, or booming speakers here - just peaceful green space in the heart of the city.

A Botanical Wonderland

What makes Ramler special is its surprisingly diverse landscape. Walking through, you'll find yourself surrounded by an impressive collection of plants that make you forget you're in the middle of Boston. There are flowering crabapple and dogwood trees that create a beautiful display in spring, while tall Dawn Redwoods add interest year-round.

Strategically placed white pines along the back edge create a natural curtain from neighboring buildings, enhancing that feeling of being somewhere far from city life. The plantings here aren't just for human enjoyment - the park was thoughtfully designed as a sanctuary for migrating birds and pollinators like bees and butterflies.

This little oasis wouldn't exist without the dedication of local volunteers and the Friends of Ramler Park organization, who work tirelessly to keep it beautiful and welcoming. The park opens daily from 6AM to 11:30PM, offering extended hours for early risers and night owls alike.

During summer months, the park comes alive with a special music series and cultural events that bring neighbors together. These intimate concerts bring neighbors together under the stars in this small urban green space.
