About the Location
History and Origins
Merrymount Park is the largest municipal park in Quincy, Massachusetts, spanning 80 acres. The park was donated to the city in 1885 by Charles Francis Adams II, grandson of President John Quincy Adams.
Located between Hancock Street and Merrymount Parkway in the Wollaston neighborhood, Merrymount Park offers a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas.
Natural Features
The park contains wooded uplands and acres of salt marsh, providing diverse habitats for local wildlife.
Adjacent to Merrymount Park is Grossman Park, a 50-acre preserve of wetlands and upland areas that was donated to the city in the 1960s.

Merrymount Park serves as a major hub for sports and outdoor activities in Quincy. It is home to several athletic fields, including Adams Field, considered one of the finest amateur baseball fields in New England.
The park also features multiple softball and little league baseball diamonds, as well as facilities for other sports like soccer and tennis.

The Ruth Gordon Amphitheater, the city's only outdoor amphitheater, is located within the park and hosts concerts and events.
