Park Overview
Bicentennial Park, formerly known as Southeast Area Park, is a 26.5-acre public space located at the corner of Ellsworth and Platt Roads in southeast Ann Arbor, Michigan. Renamed in 2023 in honor of Ann Arbor's 2024 bicentennial, the park serves as a vibrant community hub.
Recreational Amenities
The park features two playgrounds, athletic and lighted softball/baseball fields, and a basketball court adorned with a bicentennial-themed mural created by a local artist. A paved, multi-use pathway just over a half-mile long loops around the park's perimeter, inviting visitors to walk, jog, or bike.
The park also includes picnic areas with nearby shelter amenities. In the evenings, the park is often animated by softball and baseball games on its lighted fields, making it a lively spot for sports enthusiasts.
Future Developments
While the park currently offers a range of activities, future enhancements are in the works, including the addition of the city's first universally accessible splash pad and upgrades to existing structures. These improvements align with Ann Arbor's A2Zero goals, focusing on sustainability, such as integrating solar panels and on-site energy storage.
