About the Location
Neighborhood Sanctuary
Tucked away at the intersection of Packard Street and Hikone Drive in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Rose Park offers a cozy 2.35 acres of green space that functions as a breath of fresh air for the surrounding neighborhood. It's not massive, but it's just right for a quick escape from the daily grind.
Playground Possibilities
Kids' faces light up at the sight of the park's two play structures. One is specifically designed with the little ones in mind, making this spot perfect if you've got children of different ages who need to burn off some energy.
Full disclosure: the playground equipment has definitely been loved over the years and shows some wear. The wooden-bordered play area with its bed of woodchips could use some TLC in spots, but it still does the job for an afternoon of fun.
Park Layout & Amenities
An asphalt trail loops around the playground area, well-suited for a casual stroll or if you're trying to get your steps in while the kids play. It's not the lakefront path, but it's a nice addition that makes the park more accessible.
Need a breather? You'll find benches scattered throughout where you can sit back and watch the world go by. There are also a few picnic tables available, however they've weathered their fair share of seasons and aren't exactly abundant.
The layout makes good use of the compact space, balancing open areas with play zones. The grass is generally well-kept, so you won't have to wade through a jungle to find a spot for your picnic blanket.
Community Value
Let's be real - Rose Park won't be winning any awards for being the biggest or most feature-packed park in Ann Arbor. But what it lacks in size and amenities, it makes up for in convenience and charm for locals who just need a nearby patch of green to enjoy.
Worth noting: if you're looking for more facilities, Buhr Park sits just across the street with additional options. And the Mallets Creek library is close enough that you can easily combine story time with playground time for a full day of kid-friendly activities.
