Just next door stands the historic Liberty Hyde Bailey Center, a beautiful old building that's found new life as a mixed-use space.

Fresh Face, Same Heart

In October 2020, Bailey Park unveiled its makeover with a community ribbon-cutting. The renovations included a looping path for morning jogs or evening strolls, a community plaza for gatherings, and play structures designed for kids of all ages.

The upgrade didn't stop there. You can find comfortable benches for people-watching, picnic tables for outdoor lunches, and our personal favorite: native-pollinator-friendly garden beds that burst with color while supporting local ecology. These improvements focused on accessibility - removing barriers and creating a more inclusive space.

Community Hub

Bailey Park isn't just pretty - it's practical. It is the outdoor playground for East Lansing's childcare programs and summer camps, where kids can burn off energy and make memories. The park's design strikes a nice balance between sunny spots and shaded retreats, with a chain-link fence along three sides providing peace of mind for parents.

While most of the park shines after its renovation, you might notice the asphalt areas in the southern section still need some TLC - a small reminder of how much this popular community space gets used by the people who call Bailey neighborhood home.
