About Bossen Field Park in Minneapolis
Bossen Field Park is a 36.5-acre neighborhood park located in the Wenonah area of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The park was acquired in 1947 and named after Christian A. Bossen, who served as the superintendent of parks from 1935 to 1945.
Originally planned as a ten-acre park, Bossen Field Park was expanded to its current size to accommodate multiple playing fields. The park's initial improvements were completed in 1959 with the construction of a shelter building. Over the years, the park has undergone several upgrades and renovations to enhance its facilities and amenities.
A significant overhaul of the park took place from 2016 to 2019, funded by the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan. This renovation brought various improvements, including a new playground, basketball court, additional parking, and pathways. The softball fields were renovated, realigned, and equipped with new lights. The park building, including its restrooms, was also updated during this renovation.
Bossen Field Park serves as a recreational hub for the community, offering a range of outdoor activities for individuals and groups. The park is open from 6 am to midnight daily, providing ample time for visitors to enjoy its facilities.
