Sumner Field Park is a 4.77-acre neighborhood park located in the Sumner-Glenwood area of North Minneapolis, Minnesota. The park was established in 1911 and named after Charles Sumner, a United States Senator from Massachusetts who was an ardent opponent of slavery.
In its early years, the park board gradually added amenities like tennis courts, playground equipment, and fencing. By 1915, it was noted as one of the busiest fields in the Minneapolis park system.
