About Frogtown Farm and Park in Saint Paul
Frogtown Park and Farm is a 12.7-acre public park located in the Frogtown neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The park, which opened in 2015, sits atop a hill and serves as a hub for health, recreation, local food production, and community gathering.
The park includes a 5-acre certified organic urban demonstration farm, which is one of the largest urban farms in the country. This farm area is dedicated to sustainable urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, and community enrichment. The farm offers educational opportunities, with visitors able to learn about farming traditions and urban farming techniques.
Frogtown Park and Farm was created through a community-led initiative to secure green space in the diverse and vibrant Frogtown neighborhood. The project was a partnership between the Trust for Public Land, the City of St. Paul, and the Wilder Foundation. The park's design incorporates natural areas, recreational spaces, and the urban farm, providing a unique blend of uses for residents and visitors.
The park features dozens of 50- to 100-year-old trees, preserving existing mature vegetation. It also includes open spaces for recreation and relaxation, allowing visitors to enjoy nature within an urban setting. The farm portion of the park is managed by a non-profit organization and focuses on community engagement, offering various programs and events throughout the year.
