Rock Quarry Park

Park Overview

Rock Quarry Park's 0.6-mile gravel perimeter trail is one of its highlights, looping around the grounds for a casual stroll, a brisk morning jog, or simply soaking in some fresh air. Don't be fooled by its modest length - the trail has enough of an incline to give your legs a decent workout if you're feeling energetic.

The park spans 19 acres in Columbia and offers a little something for everyone looking to escape the daily grind. Whether you're flying solo or have the whole family in tow, you'll find both recreational activities and peaceful downtime in a natural setting that's well-kept year-round.

Sports and Recreation

If you're into sports, Rock Quarry has several options. You'll find a full basketball court for pickup games, two tennis courts with pickleball lines for racquet enthusiasts, and a sand volleyball court that's ready for some friendly competition.

The park also offers practice fields for baseball, softball, and soccer when you need space to work on your skills. There's plenty of open green space too - meant for tossing a frisbee around or organizing an impromptu football game with friends.

Playground

Kids have their own special corner here with a playground that younger children particularly enjoy. It comes equipped with slides and swings sized for both toddlers and older kids, plus a sandbox area where little ones can let their imaginations run wild.

What makes this playground stand out are the giant tractor tires that have become a favorite climbing feature. Watch as kids scramble over them, hide inside, and create their own adventures. There's enough space for multiple children to play without feeling crowded - a real plus during busy weekends.

Facilities

Planning a gathering? The park's reservable shelter comes complete with picnic tables and barbecue grills, making it ideal for family reunions or birthday celebrations. The pavilion offers ample space and is consistently well-maintained.

For indoor events, the Rock Quarry House can be rented for groups up to 50 people. It's a convenient option for everything from baby showers to graduation parties, with tables, chairs, and a kitchen area at your disposal.

You should note that restroom facilities and a drinking fountain with a jug filler are only available seasonally from April 15 through October 15. The good news is that these facilities are typically clean and well-kept. Parking is easy to find, so you won't have to worry about long walks to reach the park amenities.

Visitor Information

Open 24 hours, Rock Quarry Park has become a go-to spot for Columbia residents looking to play sports, host events, or simply reconnect with nature. The atmosphere tends to remain quiet and peaceful - perfect if you're seeking a few hours away from the hustle and bustle.

Four-legged friends are welcome but must stay on leash, and you'll need to clean up after them (as any good neighbor would). Many regulars enjoy taking their dogs for walks along the trail, making it a favorite for pet owners throughout the community.
