History and Namesake
Established in 1966, this 6.31-acre public park is located in the JeffVanderLou neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The park was named in honor of Jordan W. Chambers (1896-1962), a prominent Black civic leader and political figure in St. Louis.
Jordan W. Chambers was active in local politics for many years, working to organize voters and improve conditions for Black residents. He owned the Peoples Undertaking Company and served as a Democratic Committeeman, becoming the first Black person to hold that position in St. Louis.
Park Amenities
Chambers Park features a swimming pool that is free for all St. Louis City residents, with a lifeguard on duty during operating hours.
In addition to the pool, the park offers various sports facilities and recreational areas for community use.
