About the Location

Park Overview

Found in the Centennial Hills neighborhood of Las Vegas, the sprawling 120-acre Centennial Hills Park (formerly known as Deer Springs Park) offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of Sin City. What makes this park particularly interesting is its location on an inverted riverbed - the Tule Springs Wash - giving the landscape a unique geological character. With its expansive grassy areas and well-maintained grounds, there's plenty of room to spread out and enjoy outdoor activities.

Themed Playgrounds

History comes alive at this park with prehistoric-themed elements that pay homage to the area's fascinating paleontological past. Kids of different ages will find their perfect play spot among two distinct playgrounds.

Older children gravitate toward what locals affectionately call the "dinosaur playground," a shaded area near the trails featuring some of the largest slides in Las Vegas. (Just note that occasionally some slides might be closed for maintenance - better safe than sorry!)

Younger explorers will delight in the "butterfly playground," a whimsical garden-themed area adorned with colorful flower and butterfly designs that spark imagination.

Both playgrounds feature splash pads that are absolute lifesavers during those scorching Vegas summer days. Kids especially enjoy darting through the spraying water to cool down during hot days.

Recreational Facilities

The park functions as a neighborhood recreational space with its variety of designed areas. The amphitheater hosts various events including evening concerts and the annual bluegrass festival.

Four-legged family members haven't been forgotten - the dedicated dog park separates small pups from their larger counterparts, allowing them to run, play and socialize safely off-leash. You'll find grassy areas and water stations, but these might occasionally need some TLC.

Gatherings big and small find their home in the numerous picnic areas with covered tables scattered throughout the park. Many spots come equipped with barbecue grills and concrete slabs, making it easy to turn an ordinary afternoon into a proper cookout.

Sports Amenities

Active types will find plenty to keep them moving here. The soccer and football fields feature well-maintained grass that cushions falls and enhances play.

For those who prefer different sporting options, the park includes sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, and pickleball courts. Whatever your game, you'll likely find a place to play it here.

Walking Trails and Nature

Winding walking trails invite you to lace up your sneakers and explore the grounds at your own pace. Along the way, you'll encounter educational displays that tell the stories of local wildlife and the prehistoric mammals that once roamed this very land.

Keep your eyes peeled for the resident rabbits that hop about the grounds, adding charm to this peaceful urban oasis. The generous green spaces provide perfect spots for meditation, reading, or simply watching clouds drift by.

Library and Accessibility

In a clever pairing of body and mind, a public library sits adjacent to the park, offering easy access to books, resources, and air conditioning when the Nevada heat becomes too intense. The park provides plenty of parking, including some covered spots that can accommodate larger vehicles - a thoughtful touch for those family-sized SUVs and minivans.
