About the Location
History
What was once known as South Hills Park got a heartfelt rename in 2005 to honor Ellen Steiner, a dedicated community champion who poured her energy into improving this green space while serving on local boards.
Park Features
Spread across 4 acres, this cozy neighborhood park has something for everyone. Kids can let their imaginations run wild in the playground area, climbing and sliding to their hearts' content.
If you're feeling sporty, grab your racket for a match on one of the two tennis courts or shoot some hoops at the basketball court. For a more laid-back activity, the horseshoe pit offers a wonderful spot to test your aim and enjoy some friendly competition.
Facilities
Planning a small gathering? The covered group picnic area might be just what you need. It works on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations here!), making it great for impromptu family lunches or casual meetups with friends.
Nature calls? You'll discover restroom facilities open seasonally from late April to early October, weather permitting of course.
Recent Improvements
The park got a nice refresh in June 2024 with brand new playground equipment and soft-fall surfacing. Now the little ones can play with added safety and even more fun possibilities.
Location
Tucked into a residential area, Ellen's Park provides a convenient green escape for neighbors while remaining accessible to anyone in the Reno community looking for an outdoor space.
