Trails and Accessibility

Wrapping around the soccer fields, Arroyo del Oso Park's 0.6-mile concrete walking path offers an excellent spot for that casual morning stroll or a light workout. It's rated as a Grade 1 difficulty trail - basically, it's accessible for almost everyone, whether you're pushing a stroller or just taking it easy.

You'll come across the park nestled near the Wyoming and Spain NE intersection, making it a convenient stop for locals. There's on-site parking available, but heads up - it gets pretty packed during soccer season in fall and spring when the fields are buzzing with activity. The gates typically open around 6:30 AM, just a tad later than what's officially posted.

Recreational Amenities

The playground sits at the southwest corner of the park, giving kids their own space to burn off energy. The zipline feature is a definite highlight that keeps children coming back, but on those scorching New Mexico summer days, the lack of shade can be a bit of a challenge.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the basketball courts and nine tennis courts scattered across the grounds. The soccer fields are well-kept and frequently host youth games, especially for the 8-and-under crowd. On weekends, these fields transform into a lively hub of youth sports activity.

Green Spaces and Dog-Friendly Areas

Lush, open grassy areas define this park, with mature trees lining the edges to provide welcome relief from the sun. These shady spots are nice for spreading out a picnic blanket or simply relaxing with a good book.

While technically a leash-required park, the nearly fully-fenced area has become something of an unofficial dog park, particularly in the evenings when local dog owners gather for impromptu social hours. The soft grass is great for dogs to run around on, however it's good to stay mindful of the soccer practices and games that regularly claim the fields.

Restrooms are available seasonally, with portable options stepping in when the permanent facilities close for the year.

There are several picnic tables and benches dotted across the park, with some thoughtfully placed in shaded areas. These make for ideal spots to enjoy an outdoor lunch or host a small family gathering without much fuss.
