About Corning City Preserve in Albany
Corning Preserve, also known as Corning Riverfront Park, is a public park located along the western shore of the Hudson River in Albany, New York. The park stretches for approximately 15 acres, offering visitors a unique urban green space with scenic river views.
The preserve features a paved multi-use path that runs along the riverfront, popular among walkers, joggers, and cyclists. This path is part of the larger Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail, connecting Albany to other communities along the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers.
At the heart of the park lies Jennings Landing, which includes a 1,000-seat amphitheater. This venue hosts various events throughout the year, including the popular Alive at Five summer concert series and the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival.
The park provides access to the Hudson River for recreational activities. A boat launch is available for small watercraft, allowing visitors to explore the river. Fishing is also a common activity along the shoreline.
Corning Preserve serves as an important link between downtown Albany and its riverfront, with the Hudson River Way pedestrian bridge providing easy access from downtown to the park. The preserve not only offers recreational opportunities but also serves as an outdoor classroom, with its visitors center providing information about the ecology of the Hudson River, tides, and the local environment.
