About the Location
A Riverside Retreat
Nestled along the Genesee River in Rochester, New York, Bausch & Lomb Riverside Park stretches across nearly 27 acres of gorgeous greenspace. This secluded area provides a peaceful escape from city life with its tranquil river views and natural beauty.
What makes this spot extra convenient? It sits right next to the University of Rochester's River Campus, making it a favorite breathing space for students hitting the books too hard, professors on lunch breaks, and locals looking for a dose of nature.
Get Moving or Just Unwind
No matter if you're looking to break a sweat or simply clear your head, this park has options for both. The well-maintained paths wind through lush landscapes, great for your morning jog, afternoon stroll, or a moment of quiet reflection.
The riverside setting offers beautiful views of the Genesee. Bring your camera - the changing seasons make this spot worth visiting year-round.
Fresh Face, Same Beautiful Space
The park has recently received some thoughtful upgrades improving everything from visual appeal to visitor amenities. These renovations have enhanced traffic flow and safety measures, making your visit more enjoyable whether you're from the university or the wider Rochester community.
From Glue to Green Space
Before becoming the serene park we know today, this land has lived many lives. In the 19th century, it served as farmland, housed a glue factory, and even operated as a distillery - quite the career change!
Later, it transformed into part of the prestigious Oak Hill Country Club golf course before the University of Rochester acquired the property in the 1920s, eventually leading to the beautiful riverside park we enjoy today.
