About the Location

Scenic Views and Water Features

Spanning 109 acres, this multifaceted public space encompasses both an active urban environment and natural green spaces. The park's centerpiece is the historic Cobbs Hill Reservoir, which features a 0.7-mile paved walking path that encircles the water.

From this elevated vantage point, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Rochester skyline, especially striking during sunset or overcast days. At the lower level of the park, Lake Riley provides a serene setting for fishing or relaxing on its grassy shores.

Recreational Facilities

The park is home to multiple recreational facilities such as softball and soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a playground tailored for children aged 5-12. Additionally, there is a teen fitness court, offering free outdoor physical training opportunities supported by modern equipment.

Washington Grove

Nature lovers can explore Washington Grove, a 100-acre old-growth oak-hickory forest located east of the reservoir. This tranquil urban forest, with its winding trails, is a sanctuary for birdwatchers, hikers, and cross-country skiers.

It features unique ecological elements such as glacial kettle formations and supports a rich array of wildlife, including 142 observed bird species over an 18-year period.

Rental Facilities

Lake Riley Lodge and Tay House Lodge accommodate large gatherings. The lodges feature convenient amenities including heating, air conditioning, a fireplace, and kitchen facilities.

The park's layout, divided into lower recreational areas and the upper reservoir zone, offers diverse possibilities for enjoyment, from active sports to peaceful nature walks, making it a cherished landmark in Rochester's urban landscape.
