About the Location
A Bit of History
Found in Rochester's Lyell-Otis neighborhood, Sebastian Park sits just south of Lexington Avenue. This community green space honors Father Sebastian Contegiacomo, an Italian immigrant missionary who dedicated his life to serving the Most Precious Blood Parish.
Fresh Face for a Beloved Space
The park got quite the makeover in 2011, when about $300,000 was invested in sprucing up the grounds. These improvements breathed new life into the park, making it an even more inviting spot for locals to enjoy.
What You'll Find Here
Sebastian Park offers a lovely blend of open green spaces for chilling out or tossing a frisbee, alongside more structured areas for organized play. When you're feeling active, you can take advantage of the basketball court, tennis court, baseball field, or soccer field. Looking to have a family gathering? The picnic area and shelter make for perfect spots to enjoy an outdoor meal.
For the Little Ones
The playground is a definite highlight if you're bringing kids along. Little adventurers will have a blast on the climbers, slides, and swings suitable for various ages. Just a friendly tip: you might want to pack a towel if you're visiting after rain - those slides tend to collect water sometimes. There's plenty of space in the play area, so children can run around safely without things feeling too crowded.
Neighborhood Vibes
What makes Sebastian Park special is its setting in a peaceful, pleasant neighborhood. It's consistently clean, safe, and well-maintained - truly a cherished gathering spot for the community.
Note that there are no public restrooms available in the park, so plan accordingly when visiting.
