About the Location
Park Overview
Located in the southern part of Concord, North Carolina, W.W. Flowe Park spreads across 44 acres of community space. This park has built its identity around baseball and softball facilities, while still offering plenty of open areas for a casual walk or a moment of quiet.
In 2021, the City of Concord officially took the reins from Cabarrus County and is now working on a master plan for the park's future. They're figuring out how to preserve what works, renovate what needs love, and potentially add new features to make your visits even better.
Sports Facilities
The heart of W.W. Flowe is undoubtedly its four-field baseball and softball complex, complete with a press box and concessions area. Local teams flock here during spring and fall for games and tournaments, bringing the fields to life with competitive energy.
If baseball isn't your thing, you can spike a ball at the sand volleyball courts, practice your swing in the batting cages, or try your hand at the horseshoe pits. While the baseball fields are definitely the main attraction, they could admittedly use a bit more TLC according to some regular visitors.
Recreation Areas
For those who prefer unstructured fun, there's a spacious, undeveloped multi-use field where you can toss a frisbee, kick a soccer ball, or simply stretch out on the grass.
If you're bringing tiny humans along, note that the park currently offers just two baby swings for the youngest visitors. The former playground equipment has been removed, so options for kids are limited at the moment.
Amenities and Trails
Scattered across the grounds are small shelters and covered picnic tables where you can enjoy a packed lunch or gather with friends. There's also a gazebo near the entrance that provides a nice spot to sit and relax.
The walking trail system weaving through the park offers a pleasant route for your daily steps. Dog owners particularly appreciate the long tree line and open spaces for walking their four-legged friends - just remember to keep your pup on a leash.
Additional Amenities
You can find clean, well-maintained public restrooms on site - always a plus for longer visits. There's also plenty of parking available, making it hassle-free when you're coming for a game or just to enjoy the outdoors.
During baseball and softball events, the concession stand opens its shutters, offering snacks and drinks to fuel players and spectators alike.
