Swimming Facilities

Bolton Park features Winston-Salem's largest swimming pool, complete with traditional diving boards and a regulation-height diving platform with three levels. If you're looking for a proper diving experience, this is one of the few places in town where you can dive from multiple heights. The pool is significant enough to host the annual city swim meet, making it something of a local aquatic hub.

The pool is kept clean and well-maintained, offering a wonderful escape when North Carolina summer heat kicks in. Just remember that you'll need proper swimwear, and there might be a small fee to get in. For families with little ones, there's also a zero-depth entry water playground where younger children can safely enjoy the water without the stress of a deep pool.

Playground Area

The playground here isn't your average neighborhood swing set. It features modern equipment that keeps kids of all ages entertained. The star attraction? A zip line that has kids (and let's be honest, some adults too) coming back again and again.

You'll discover all the playground classics here - climbing structures, multiple slides, and swings including some parent-child tandem options for the youngest visitors. The playground now has cushioned rubber flooring instead of sand, which means fewer shoes filled with grit and safer landings for energetic kiddos.

Recreational Areas

Need to get your steps in? The paved walking trails meander through the park in a quarter-mile loop that's excellent for a casual stroll or a more determined power walk. There are plenty of benches along the way when you need a breather.

Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the outdoor gym that's cleverly sheltered under a covered area - meaning rain won't derail your workout plans. The park also features a par course where you can combine your cardio with strength training at stations positioned along the trail.

Sports Facilities

If you're looking to work on your backhand or set up a friendly competition, Bolton Park offers well-maintained tennis courts and a volleyball court. These facilities add some nice variety to the recreational options without feeling overcrowded.

Amenities

Got a family reunion or birthday coming up? The large covered picnic shelter might be just what you need. Equipped with BBQ grills and electrical outlets, this spacious area can hold over 100 people, making it great for all kinds of gatherings.

The park strikes a nice balance with its green spaces, offering both shady spots for hot days and sunny areas when you want to soak up some vitamin D. The open fields work well for impromptu frisbee games, picnics, or just lounging with a good book. Dog owners are welcome to bring their furry friends, but do keep them leashed and be prepared to clean up after them.

You'll come across restrooms and water fountains around the park for convenience, however it's worth noting that the restrooms occasionally have some maintenance issues - nothing major, but something to be aware of.
