About the Location

Historic Origins

Mount Storm Park is a 59-acre municipal park located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Situated on the western slope of a hill overlooking the Mill Creek Valley, the park offers visitors panoramic views of the surrounding area.

The park's history dates back to the mid-19th century when it was the site of Robert Bonner Bowler's estate, a prominent dry goods entrepreneur and former Mayor of the Cincinnati neighborhood of Clifton.

Architectural Highlights

The park's most notable feature is the Temple of Love, a white Corinthian-style pergola designed by Adolph Strauch in 1845. This structure, which once covered a reservoir supplying water to Bowler's estate, remains a significant landmark in the park today.

The park also contains a stone shelter or pavilion built in 1935, designed by Samuel Hannaford & Sons in a "Depression Modern" style.

Natural Beauty

Mount Storm Park offers a blend of natural beauty and recreational facilities. The grounds include grassy rolling hills, walking trails, and flower beds maintained by the Clifton Garden Club.

The park's elevated position provides excellent vantage points for watching sunsets and enjoying views of Cincinnati's western hills.

Community Hub

In addition to its scenic attributes, the park serves as a community gathering space. It hosts various events throughout the year, including Memorial Day picnics, car shows, and Shakespeare in the Park performances.

The park's playground and open spaces make it a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
