About Voinovich Park in Cleveland
Voinovich Bicentennial Park is a 4.5-acre urban green space located at the north end of East Ninth Street Pier in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The park offers visitors scenic views of Lake Erie and the Cleveland skyline, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
The park's centerpiece is a large, artistically-terraced green space surrounded by paved areas. This open lawn provides ample room for various activities and events. At the southwest corner of the park, there is a concrete stage used for performances and gatherings during summer months.
Voinovich Bicentennial Park serves as a venue for numerous festivals and events throughout the year, particularly in the warmer seasons. Some of these events may require admission fees. The park's location along the waterfront makes it an ideal spot for watching sunsets over Lake Erie.
In 2016, the park saw the addition of public sand volleyball courts, which are open from May through October. These courts host league play on weekday evenings and are available for public use during the day and on weekends on a first-come, first-served basis. Two outdoor bocce ball courts were added in 2018, also available for public use from May through October during park hours.
The park is home to one of Cleveland's iconic script signs, installed by Destination Cleveland. This sign, located on the park's southern perimeter, has become a popular backdrop for photographs, offering visitors a memorable photo opportunity with the lake and city skyline in view.
Fishing is permitted in designated areas of the park, allowing visitors to enjoy recreational angling along the Lake Erie shoreline.
