Park Overview
South Lakes Park is a 158-acre regional park located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Opened in the fall of 2004, this expansive green space offers a wide range of recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
Water Features
The park features two main bodies of water: a 9.9-acre east pond with an average depth of 5.1 feet, and a 2.5-acre west pond with an average depth of 5.2 feet. The east pond is equipped with a fishing dock and fish feeder, while the west pond is surrounded by a sidewalk and contains fish attractors in the water.
Both ponds are part of the "Close to Home" fishing program, providing ample opportunities for anglers.
Trails and Recreation
A 1.5-mile walking trail winds through the park, encircling a large playground and offering visitors a chance to enjoy the natural surroundings. The park also boasts a considerable sports complex, including 15 full-sized soccer fields that have hosted significant events such as the ten-state Southern Regional Championships.
For those interested in alternative sports, the park includes a skate park. Additionally, covered basketball courts are available for visitors who prefer court sports.
