Hunter Park
About Hunter Park
Recreation Options
Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hunter Park covers 71 acres of public land. Regardless of whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or just looking for a peaceful afternoon, this park has something that might catch your interest.
The landscape here is a pleasant mix of wooded areas and open spaces, creating little pockets for all sorts of activities. Take a stroll along the scenic walking trails that meander through forests, cross bubbling streams, and circle around a peaceful pond - which, by the way, offers some pretty stunning sunset views if you time your visit right.
One of the park's highlights is Biscuit Acres, a fenced haven where your four-legged friends can live their best off-leash lives. They've thoughtfully divided it into separate areas for large and small dogs, so everyone stays happy and safe. There are water fountains and small pools where pups can splash around during those warmer Oklahoma days. Just note that the dog park takes a weekend extension - it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for maintenance.
Sports Facilities
If you're looking to get active, Hunter Park offers several options. The park is equipped with four basketball goals, tennis courts, and an 18-hole disc golf course that locals rave about.
The disc golf course offers a genuinely engaging challenge, weaving through both wooded sections and open fields. Most holes are under 300 feet, making it accessible for newcomers while still giving experienced players something to work with. It's regarded by many as one of the better disc golf courses in Tulsa.
For those who prefer a more contemplative sport, the fishing pond has several piers where you can cast your line. The water is home to bass, perch, and crappie - nothing record-breaking, but it makes for a particularly nice spot to teach kids the patience of fishing.
Family-Friendly Amenities
Kids have plenty of space to burn energy at the modern playground equipped with swings, slides, and climbing structures suitable for various ages. When the temperature climbs, the splash pad becomes the go-to spot for cooling off - just listen for the squeals of delight and you'll discover it.
What makes Hunter Park stand out is its outdoor fitness area featuring equipment sized for both children and adults. Everything is wheelchair accessible, and there are helpful signs showing you how to use each piece properly.
For something a bit different, check out the park's labyrinth. This winding path leads to the center of the park and back out without any dead ends - a peaceful way to explore the grounds while maybe clearing your mind a bit.
Park Facilities
Planning a gathering? The park offers picnic shelters complete with electric outlets and tables - well-suited for family reunions or birthday celebrations. Larger events can take advantage of the covered pavilion, however you'll want to reserve it ahead of time.
Hunter Park connects to the Creek Turnpike bike/walking trail at the back section, extending your adventure possibilities beyond the park boundaries. Restrooms are available for when nature calls, but keep in mind they're seasonal and typically closed during winter months.
With its spacious grounds and diverse offerings, Hunter Park provides a natural retreat that feels somewhat removed from city life while still being conveniently located in Tulsa.
