About Dream Keepers Park

Peaceful Urban Retreat

Situated in downtown Tulsa, Dream Keepers Park spans 15 acres of green space near the Arkansas River. It's one of those places where the city seems to take a deep breath, offering a calm escape without having to venture far from urban life.

The park features expansive open fields that give you plenty of room to spread out. Whether you're tossing a football, playing an impromptu game of frisbee with friends, or just need space for your community gathering, there's room for everyone. At the heart of the park stands a veterans memorial area - a thoughtful space that honors those who've served in the armed forces and provides a quiet spot for reflection.

Family-Friendly Amenities

If you've got little ones in tow, you'll discover a small playground that's well-suited for toddlers and younger children. The walking trails that wind through the park offer a great way to get some steps in, whether you're aiming for a casual stroll or a more brisk workout.

Need a break from the sun? The covered pavilion acts as a great picnic spot, providing some welcome shade on those warm Oklahoma days. And don't worry about leaving your four-legged friend at home - the park is dog-friendly, but your pup will need to stay on a leash while you explore together.

Community Events Venue

Dream Keepers Park has really found its groove as a gathering place for Tulsa's community events. Thanks to those wide-open fields, it's become a go-to spot for festivals and celebrations during the year.

The cultural calendar includes a variety of events throughout the year. You can find Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations, the lively Irish Festival, Pagan Pride events, and various Native American functions that celebrate tribal heritage. Come summer, the park transforms into prime viewing territory for Fourth of July fireworks, with families spreading out blankets across the open space.

One of the park's more unique offerings happens Tuesday evenings with flow sessions - where local performers practice and showcase fire dancing and flow arts. It's an interesting community activity that adds character to the park. Beyond that, the accessible location makes it a natural choice for charity walks, protests, and community gatherings of all kinds.

Cultural Significance

The park holds a special place in the hearts of Tulsa's Native American community and regularly hosts Indigenous cultural celebrations. It reflects the city's acknowledgment of its Native American heritage and provides a space for cultural expression and learning.

You'll come across restrooms on-site, but keep in mind they might be locked during slower seasons. The grounds are well-kept, with city workers regularly maintaining the space - a detail that contributes to the overall experience.

Exciting Future Developments

Change is on the horizon for Dream Keepers Park. In October 2024, city officials unveiled a $9 million revitalization plan that promises to transform the space. The upcoming changes include a new children's play area, a one-mile loop trail for walkers and joggers, a hardscaped plaza stage for performances, and improved signage throughout.

Perhaps most notably, the renovation will incorporate tribal gardens representing the Cherokee Nation, Osage Nation, and Muscogee (Creek) Nation - a thoughtful nod to the area's Native American roots. The plan also includes displaying flags from all 39 tribal nations of Oklahoma around the veterans' monument.

The redesign will highlight Tulsa's Native American history. Interpretive markers explaining the city's native history will be placed across the grounds, adding an educational element to your visit.

As part of the transformation, a short stretch of Boulder Park Drive that currently splits the park will be closed, creating a more unified space. Between its open areas, recreational options, and deep cultural significance, Dream Keepers Park offers a rich environment where you can connect with nature, learn about local history, and experience the heart of Tulsa's community.
