Drake Park

Drake Park is a 13-acre public park located along the Deschutes River in downtown Bend, Oregon. Established in 1921, it is one of Bend's oldest and most beloved parks. The park features nearly half a mile of riverfront property along Mirror Pond, a widened section of the Deschutes River created by a dam.

Drake Park serves as a popular community gathering place and hosts many events throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and holiday celebrations. The park's expansive lawns are shaded by towering Ponderosa pines and other mature trees, providing a serene natural setting in the heart of the city.

The park offers scenic walking paths along the river, including a section of the Deschutes River Trail. Visitors can enjoy views of Mirror Pond and the surrounding landscape, including distant Cascade mountain peaks on clear days. Drake Park is also a haven for local wildlife, with opportunities to observe ducks, geese, and other waterfowl.

In 2003, the park underwent significant renovations to improve its facilities and accessibility. These upgrades included new pathways, upgraded restrooms, improved lighting, and the addition of amenities like bike racks and picnic areas. The park continues to be a cherished green space for both Bend residents and visitors, offering a peaceful retreat and connection to nature within the urban environment.
