About the Location
Riverside Escape
Nestled along the Deschutes River on Division Street in Bend, Oregon, Riverview Park might be small in size at just 0.5 acres, but it delivers big on riverside charm. This little roadside spot offers a quick nature break with easy access to the water and some beautiful views.
The accessible pathway leads right to the river's edge, where you can get up close with the wild sights of the Deschutes River. The natural scenery here shows off what makes Bend special.
What You'll Find
Mature trees dot the landscape, casting welcome shade on warm days and creating a peaceful natural atmosphere. A wood bridge stretches across part of the riverfront, giving you an ideal spot to watch the flowing water or try your luck at catching something.
Angling enthusiasts will appreciate that this fishing area was developed with help from the Bend Lion's Club back in 1980, making it accessible for everyone. There's also a picnic area where you can enjoy a packed lunch while soaking in those tranquil river views.
A Bit of Background
The Bend Park and Recreation District acquired Riverview Park in 1976, but technically the City of Bend still owns it. It was originally designed as an Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliant dock, making nature accessible to visitors of all mobility levels.
You'll come across the park just past the "BEND" berm on Division Street - though its compact footprint means you might need to keep your eyes peeled. Despite its modest size, this little sanctuary offers a peaceful moment of connection with the Deschutes River.
Good to Know
A large parking lot makes stopping by convenient, even if you're just passing through. Dog owners will be happy to hear the park is dog-friendly, so your four-legged friends can enjoy the natural setting alongside you.
The park is known for being well-maintained and clean, with beautiful views of both the natural landscape and some of Bend's architecture. The gentle slopes throughout make it suitable for a casual stroll, a quick jog, a bike ride, or a leisurely hike along the riverside.
