About the Location
Natural Setting
Perched atop Awbrey Butte in Bend, Oregon, Sylvan Park is a 3.8-acre glimpse of tranquility. The park strikes a beautiful balance with its open, tree-shaded lawns and the fact that over half of it remains as natural woodland - a little pocket of untouched nature right in the middle of a residential area.
If you're looking for a quiet spot to unwind away from the hustle and bustle, this neighborhood space offers a genuinely peaceful atmosphere.
Amenities
Got kids? The park features a modest but charming play area complete with a play structure and swings that will keep the little ones entertained. When hunger strikes, you can settle in at one of the picnic tables scattered across the grassy field - well-suited for everything from casual lunches to small family gatherings.
Tennis enthusiasts will appreciate the two tennis courts available on a first-come, first-served basis. These courts, built by Brooks Resources during the park's development, add a sporty dimension to this otherwise laid-back space.
Trails & Connectivity
Feeling a bit adventurous? An unpaved trail connects Sylvan Park to nearby Summit Park, winding through a natural area that showcases the local landscape. It's a lovely little walk that gives you a chance to stretch your legs and take in more of Bend's natural beauty.
Just remember to stick to the designated path - the surrounding property is private, and nobody likes a trespasser!
History
Sylvan Park has been a community fixture since 1988 when it was acquired from Brooks Resources. The initial development happened that same year, with additional touches being added in 1993 to create the peaceful retreat we enjoy today.
