About the Location
Athletic Facilities
As the largest athletic field complex in Eugene's city park system, Ascot Park stretches across 13.13 acres in the north region of the city. This spacious green space provides room for sports enthusiasts of all types.
The park is home to multiple ball fields, where you'll often find baseball and softball games in full swing. If soccer is more your speed, you can enjoy the soccer fields with natural grass, but be prepared - sometimes the grass might be a bit uneven or taller than what competitive players might prefer. Still, there's plenty of room to pass, shoot, and score.
Track and field enthusiasts haven't been forgotten either - the park includes a track where you can work on your running form or simply enjoy a measured jogging route.
Events and Amenities
Year-round, Ascot Park comes alive with soccer tournaments and games that bring the community together. During these events, you might luck out and find mobile food vendors serving up delicious Mexican food and coffee - great for refueling after cheering on your favorite team.
For basic needs, the park includes: There's a parking lot for easy access, and public restrooms with all the essentials - running water, soap, and paper towels. Just note that restroom availability might be limited during off-hours or special events.
History and Management
This community treasure has been around for quite some time - the City of Eugene acquired the land in the early 1960s. Between 1982 and 1989, the playground, restrooms, and other park improvements were completed, transforming it into the recreational space we know today.
The fields don't manage themselves, of course. The City of Eugene Recreation Division handles the programming and scheduling, ensuring everyone gets fair access to the sports facilities.
Location and Community Use
Set in the Harlow Neighbors area near Monroe Middle School, Ascot Park is a green breathing space for both nearby residents and visitors from across Eugene. The expansive grounds are particularly popular with families - you'll see plenty of children running and playing, especially on weekdays after school lets out.
Open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM, the park gives you plenty of time to enjoy its offerings. No matter if you're joining a league game, practicing your pitching, or just looking for a place to stretch your legs, Ascot Park's wide open spaces are well-used by locals for recreation and outdoor activities.
