About the Location
Riverside Escape
Nestled along the McKenzie River about 5 miles north of Eugene and just 2 miles south of Coburg, Armitage Park spans 64 peaceful acres offering both day use areas and overnight camping options. It's the kind of place where you can spend an afternoon or make a weekend of it.
Splash and Play
The day use area gives you direct access to the McKenzie River, complete with a paved boat ramp and plenty of trailer parking. If you're launching for a day trip or ending your river adventure, this spot makes a wonderful put-in or take-out point.
Feel like cooling off? Take a dip in the river, however you might want to pack water shoes since some areas can be a bit rocky. The riverbanks are also prime spots for fishing or hunting for interesting rocks along the shore.
Gather and Relax
Around the park, you can find picnic tables and grills scattered among the trees. Planning something bigger? The reservable group shelters come with electricity and water, and some even feature sinks and power outlets - well-suited for family reunions or summer gatherings.
When you're done eating, work off those snacks at the volleyball courts or try your hand at the horseshoe pits. The expansive grassy areas practically beg for frisbee games or just sprawling out with a good book.
Natural Wonders
Nature lovers will appreciate the mix of old growth deciduous and evergreen trees creating a peaceful backdrop. Take a leisurely stroll along the half-mile Crilly Nature Trail, a self-guided interpretive path that winds through the park's less developed sections.
The tree-lined path along the river offers some genuinely beautiful views. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife - osprey nests, darting hummingbirds, sunbathing turtles, chorus frogs, and a variety of birds call this place home.
If you visit during the right season, you might even score some wild blackberries for a sweet natural treat.
Home Away From Home
The campground offers 37 total sites, including 32 RV spots with full hookups and 5 tent-only areas. RV sites can handle rigs up to 60 feet long on level paved pads, with enough space between sites to give you some privacy.
You won't rough it too much with amenities like clean restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities (three washers and three dryers). There's a camp host on-site if you need assistance, and the RV sites even include cable TV hookups for those rainy evenings.
Pup Paradise
Dog owners will fall in love with the 2-acre off-leash dog park that includes separate zones for small and large dogs. Your four-legged friends can enjoy water, shade, toys, water dishes, and during warm weather, there are even kiddie pools for them to splash around in.
Easy Access
One of the park's best features is its convenient location near Interstate 5 and Eugene, making it easy to reach whether you're a traveler passing through or a local looking for a quick nature fix. You might occasionally hear some highway sounds, but the trees and natural setting help create a buffer from the outside world.
