About the Location
A Natural Community Hub
Nestled in the South Hillsboro area of Oregon, Tamarack Park spans 4 acres of thoughtfully designed green space within the Reed's Crossing community. This neighborhood location combines natural elements with community spaces, offering options whether you're looking to play, relax, or simply enjoy the outdoors.
At the park's heart stands a magnificent oak tree that is both a natural centerpiece and a bit of welcome shade on sunny Oregon days.
Play Your Way
The fully fenced playground area is a popular spot for families. Kids love scrambling up the synthetic turf slide mound, crawling through tunnels, and using the seat walls for impromptu climbing adventures.
We appreciate how the designers thoughtfully created two distinct play zones - a toddler area with interactive musical instruments and drums (prepare for some enthusiastic noise!), and a section for older children featuring more challenging climbing structures and a pretty cool two-person swing that encourages socializing.
Got a skateboard enthusiast in the family? The small skateboarding pod perched on a hill offers just enough features to practice tricks without intimidating newcomers. It's ideal for both beginning skateboarders and scooter riders looking to hone their skills.
And when team sports or tag games are calling, the large open field next to the playground provides plenty of space to run free.
Spaces to Unwind
Not everyone visits parks for high-energy activities, and Tamarack also offers several places for relaxation. The bench swings offer a peaceful spot to read or watch the kids play, while the wood-burning fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs creates a natural gathering point for conversations.
Just a heads-up though - if you're planning to use the fire pit when the playground is busy, be mindful of where the smoke is blowing. Need some shade? The 22' x 30' pavilion has you covered - literally.
With multiple picnic tables and a grill, it's an ideal spot for birthday celebrations or community get-togethers. This feature is particularly valuable since parts of the park can get quite sunny during peak daylight hours.
Practical Comforts
You'll come across clean, modern restrooms conveniently placed within the park - always a relief when spending hours outdoors. Drinking water is also readily available, so you can stay hydrated during your visit.
Dog owners should note that while your furry friends are welcome in most areas of the park, they need to stay outside the gated playground area to keep things safe for the little ones.
Beyond the Boundaries
Tamarack Park connects to the broader Reed's Crossing community through a network of walking paths and multimodal trails. These connections make it easy to extend your outdoor time beyond the park itself.
For a change of scenery, check out the nature-themed educational playground just across the street, complete with interactive features like a water pump, charming tree tunnels, and a hollow tree stump that's excellent for climbing adventures.
