A Natural Escape

Situated in a southwestern Portland neighborhood, April Hill Park spans 10 acres of green sanctuary within the Woods Creek Subwatershed of Fanno Creek. This green space provides a touch of nature without having to leave the city limits.

Wander through the grounds and you'll find yourself immersed in local plant life and occasional wildlife sightings - meant for impromptu nature walks or teaching the kids about the environment. Many locals describe it as beautiful and peaceful, with quiet corners throughout the park.

Play Areas & Recreation

The recently updated playground is a highlight for families with little ones. With swings designed for both toddlers and bigger kids, it's easy to spend an hour or two letting the children burn off energy. You'll often find community-donated toys and small ride-on vehicles scattered around - a sweet touch that speaks to the neighborhood spirit.

Just a heads-up: the playground lacks shade coverage, so on sunny summer days, those slides and metal surfaces can get pretty toasty. Plan accordingly!

Beyond the playground, a spacious grass field provides ample room for informal soccer games or frisbee tossing. The gentle rolling hills around the park add an extra element of fun - excellent for tumbling down or challenging yourself to an uphill sprint.

Getting Around the Park

A notable feature is the bridge and boardwalk system built with Fibergrate's T2515 Safe-T-Span® pedestrian pultruded grating (quite a mouthful, right?). These elevated pathways let you cross over wetland areas and small streams without disturbing the natural environment below.

A modest trail winds through the park, giving you a defined path to follow while still feeling connected to the surrounding nature.

When you're ready for a snack break, several picnic tables are available within the grounds. Nature calls? Portable toilets are maintained regularly, providing the basics when needed.

Feel free to bring your four-legged friends - April Hill is pet-friendly. Just remember to keep your dogs leashed, especially near the playground where children are playing.
