About the Location
Park Overview
Ridgewood View Park is a 6.72-acre public park located in the Cedar Hills neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The park is situated just east of Highway 217 and is accessible via SW Ardenwood Street.
The park features a unique design, with the southern half being forested while the northern portion consists of an open grassy lawn. A short loop trail extends around the perimeter of the park, allowing visitors to enjoy both the wooded and open areas.
2016 Redevelopment
In 2016, the park underwent a significant redevelopment project in conjunction with the Tualatin Valley Water District's expansion of an underground reservoir at the site. This project resulted in numerous improvements to the park's facilities and amenities.
Recreation Amenities
The redesigned park now includes new tennis courts, the district's first pickleball courts, and a bocce ball court for sports enthusiasts. For families and children, there is a nature-themed play area with new playground equipment.
Additional features include picnic tables, walking trails, and improved landscaping.
Hidden Infrastructure
Ridgewood View Park serves as both a recreational space for the community and a critical infrastructure site, housing an 8-million-gallon water reservoir and an 11-million-gallon-per-day pump station beneath its surface. This dual-purpose design efficiently utilizes the space to meet both community and utility needs.
