About the Location

A Fresh Community Oasis

Watkins Street Park is one of Chattanooga's newest green spaces, having opened its doors on June 10, 2023. This park was created through a collaborative effort between Atlanta Housing, the Bowen Choice Neighborhood team, and the City of Atlanta.

You'll find this spot just blocks away from the former Bowen Homes site, with an emphasis on accessible and inclusive recreational areas for both locals and visitors.

Built By and For the Community

What's notable about this park is how it came to be. Part of the "Doing While Planning" initiative, Watkins Street Park was developed through conversations with former Bowen Homes residents and community members throughout 2022.

Through workshops and honest feedback sessions, the project team really listened to what people wanted. The result is a green space that reflects the community's input and provides opportunities for health, creative play, and social gathering.

What You'll Find Here

Watkins Street Park is thoughtfully designed as a space for everyone, regardless of age. It's a green space in the urban landscape that offers a retreat for recreation and relaxation.

You can easily find the park at the intersection of Watkins Street and Hightower Road, making it a convenient destination for nearby residents.
