Tyson Park is a 27-acre public park located in Knoxville, Tennessee, near the University of Tennessee campus. The park is named after Charles McGhee Tyson, a Naval aviator from Knoxville who was killed in action during World War I.
Tyson Park offers a variety of recreational facilities and green spaces for visitors to enjoy. It is home to one of Knoxville's largest accessible playgrounds, providing an inclusive environment for children of all abilities. The park also features a skate park, which was Knoxville's first, funded by the Tony Hawk Foundation. The skate park includes a plaza area, a bank pool, a flow pool, and a peanut pool, catering to skateboarders of different skill levels.
For sports enthusiasts, Tyson Park boasts 14 tennis courts, six pickleball courts, and a softball field. The tennis complex is named in honor of former Knoxville Mayor Kyle Testerman, who played a significant role in its development. Additionally, the park includes three large shelters that can be used for picnics and gatherings.
Tyson Park is an integral part of Knoxville's greenway system. The Third Creek Greenway runs through the park, connecting it to the Neyland and Bearden Greenways.
