About the Location
Park Overview
Positioned in Nashville, Tennessee, Hartman Park is a recreational space for the Bordeaux neighborhood in North Nashville.
Opened back in 1964, this 54-acre green space bears the name of Richard W. Hartman, a dedicated community leader who devoted himself to working with local youth. The park has kept up with the times, undergoing thoughtful renovations in both 2010 and 2022 to ensure its facilities remain modern and relevant.
Community Center
The Hartman Park Regional Community Center got a fresh start in November 2022 after extensive renovations. It now offers exercise options, recreational activities, sports programs, and educational opportunities for kids, adults, and seniors.
The recent makeover brought new flooring throughout, freshly painted interiors, energy-efficient LED lighting in activity spaces, and modernized pool facilities. The center includes an indoor track and up-to-date exercise equipment.
The center offers a diverse activity lineup. You can join line dancing sessions, get your heart pumping in Zumba classes, or try water aerobics for a gentler workout. The center offers flexible payment options - drop in for a single visit or grab an activity package if you plan to become a regular.
Outdoor Amenities
Step outside and you can find plenty to keep you busy. The grounds feature a recently upgraded playground, a baseball field for the sports enthusiasts, a basketball court for pickup games, a tennis court for racket sports fans, and a paved walking/jogging path ideal for your daily exercise routine. The swimming pool, added in 1998, stays at a comfortable 80 degrees during winter months - no need to brave the cold!
The Whites Creek Greenway, a compact multi-use trail, skirts the southern edge of the park. This peaceful pathway tunnels under Clarksville Pike/Highway and offers some genuinely pretty views, especially when nature puts on its seasonal shows in spring, summer, and fall.
When you're ready to relax, shaded picnic areas with tables dot the landscape, including a covered shelter you can reserve for gatherings. The park's expansive open fields provide plenty of room for throwing a frisbee, playing fetch with your dog, or organizing an impromptu game of touch football.
Community Hub
Hartman Park serves many social needs in the Bordeaux area. It hosts valuable after-school programs for kids, engaging senior activities for older adults, and represents home base for the Metro Parks' Dolphins Swim Team.
The center has become a go-to venue for indoor celebrations, family reunions, and community events. The staff are helpful and professional, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere.
Hartman Park provides North Nashville residents of all ages with space to stay active, get fit, or simply relax - whether for a workout or a peaceful afternoon under the trees.
