Tucked near Amarillo's medical district, Medical Center Park (or Medipark as the locals call it) spreads across a generous 66.8 acres of Texas landscape. Lakeside Serenity

At the heart of the park sits a sprawling lake that does more than just look pretty (though it certainly does that too). Bring your fishing gear if you're feeling lucky, or simply enjoy watching the local wildlife go about their day. It's a little pocket of nature right in the middle of the city.

The paved trail circling the lake has become something of a hotspot for the active crowd. You'll spot morning joggers getting their steps in, families taking leisurely strolls, and cyclists enjoying the smooth path. It's perfect if you're trying to hit those daily activity goals while enjoying some scenery.

Get Your Game On

If team sports are more your style, you'll appreciate the sports fields scattered around the park. These open spaces host everything from organized league games to impromptu frisbee matches when the weather's nice.

For the little ones, there's a well-maintained playground area where they can climb, slide, and burn off that seemingly endless energy in a safe environment.

Cool Off in the Texas Heat

Let's be honest - Amarillo summers can be intense. That's what makes the park's splash pad such a welcome feature. On hot days, you can find kids (and sometimes adults - no judgment here) enjoying the refreshing water features. It's a great way to cool down without having to drive all the way to a pool or water park.

Take a Moment

Throughout Medipark, you'll discover plenty of green spaces ideal for spreading out a blanket or claiming a picnic table for lunch. The scattered benches also provide perfect spots to sit back and take in the surroundings - regardless of whether you're watching the sunset over the lake or just taking a breather between walking laps.

Year-round, the park hosts various community events and festivals where residents gather for celebrations.
