About Heroes Park
A Tribute to Fallen Public Servants
Tucked away in Arlington is Heroes Park, a heartfelt tribute to the city's Police and Fire Departments. This space honors those brave souls who gave everything in the line of duty, offering a quiet place to remember their sacrifice.
Memorial Features
At the heart of the park stands the "We Remember" Wall of Honor - a striking white stone memorial that lists the names of public servants who've lost their lives while serving Arlington since 1930. It's a powerful centerpiece that encourages a moment of pause and reflection.
Beside this wall flows the Stream of Life, a gentle fountain that sends water trickling into a peaceful pool. The soft sound of flowing water adds a calming backdrop to your thoughts as you move through the space.
You'll also discover a thoughtful Remembrance Courtyard and the Fallen Heroes Virtue Stone, both adding depth to this place of honor and quiet contemplation.
Park Design
A lovely tree-lined walkway guides you through the memorial. Along this path, you'll notice a donor paver area where community members have contributed their support to this meaningful place.
The overall design creates a pocket of tranquility - perfectly suited to its purpose as a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving Arlington.
Visiting Experience
What makes Heroes Park special is the peaceful atmosphere it provides. It's rarely crowded, giving you space for quiet reflection.
There's limited parking with about six spots available, but this modest size actually helps maintain the intimate feel of the memorial. It's an ideal spot if you're looking for a meaningful moment of quiet during your day.
History and Location
Dedicated on May 17, 2008, Heroes Park is a relatively recent addition to Arlington's public spaces.
You'll discover it situated near the Arlington Police Department's West Station and the City's Fire Training Center - a fitting location that strengthens its connection to the public safety community it honors.
