Found in Arlington, Texas, the 135-acre Village Creek Natural Area carries a name that tells a story. Village Creek meanders through this urban sanctuary, its banks once home to thriving Native American communities.

The land here whispers of ancient times - archaeological digs have uncovered remnants of life dating back an astonishing 9,000 years. Walking these grounds, you're tracing the same paths once traveled by prehistoric hunters and gatherers who made this fertile creek basin their home.

By the 1830s, the creek had become a haven for various Indian tribes seeking refuge in its sheltering landscape.

Trails and Recreation

Good to Know

Note that there are no restroom facilities available, so plan accordingly. The trail may close temporarily after heavy rains when conditions become muddy or unsafe.

The parking area sits nestled among trees and feels somewhat secluded - take the usual precautions with valuables in your car as you would in any park setting.
