About the Location
A Slice of Arlington's Past
As Arlington's first municipal park, Meadowbrook has been a green haven since 1924. Sprawling across 52 acres just a mile east of downtown, this park carries nearly a century of community memories within its grounds.
Golfer's Delight
The 9-hole golf course has been part of Meadowbrook since day one. With six par-four holes (250-300 yards each) and three par-three holes (about 150 yards each), it's compact but offers a satisfying challenge.
Don't let the small greens and narrow fairways fool you - they'll test golfers of all levels. The pro shop staff is genuinely helpful, and if traditional golf isn't your thing, you can try your foot at foot golf instead.
Stepping Through Time
There's something special about walking grounds with such history. Meadowbrook was home to Arlington's first outdoor swimming pool, which served splashing residents for more than 60 years until the late 1980s.
The 1930s brought charming additions like a woodbine sandstone structure that once housed monkeys and a meticulously maintained clay croquet court.
Today's Treasures
While honoring its past, Meadowbrook has evolved to meet modern needs. You'll find well-maintained walking trails, picnic areas with covered spaces and BBQ grills - good for afternoon gatherings.
Active types appreciate the basketball courts, tennis courts, and soccer fields. The open spaces are great for everything from morning workouts to impromptu frisbee games.
Play Paradise
The recently renovated inclusive playground has become a neighborhood favorite. Kids light up at the sight of zip lines, the impressive cargo net tower slide, and climbing structures designed for children of all abilities.
Parents can breathe easy thanks to the spongy safety flooring beneath play equipment. The tall trees surrounding the playground cast welcome shade, making playground visits pleasant even during Texas summer days.
Natural Retreat
Mature trees create pockets of tranquility across the park. These leafy giants aren't just beautiful - they're home to the park's population of friendly squirrels that scamper about, delighting visitors young and old.
The mix of sunny lawns and shaded groves creates an almost forest-like feel in some areas, offering a refreshing natural escape without leaving the city.
With its deep roots in Arlington's history and central location, Meadowbrook provides space to comfortably host events of several hundred people.
