About the Location

Park Overview

Holly Shores at Town Lake Metropolitan Park is a 17.62-acre public park located in Austin, Texas. The park is situated along the north shore of Lady Bird Lake, formerly known as Town Lake, and is part of the larger Town Lake Metropolitan Park system.

Historical Development

The park was developed as part of the Holly Shores/Edward Rendon Sr. Park at Festival Beach Vision Plan, which was approved by the Austin City Council in August 2014. This plan incorporated approximately nine acres of dedicated parkland from the former Holly Power Plant site, integrating it with existing parkland along the lakefront.

Recreation Opportunities

Holly Shores offers visitors a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The park provides access to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, a popular route that circles Lady Bird Lake.

The trail connection in this area has been improved through a partnership between the Austin Parks and Recreation Department and The Trail Conservancy.

Ongoing Improvements

The park is undergoing phased improvements based on the vision plan. These enhancements aim to increase accessibility, improve facilities, and create better connections to surrounding areas.

Recent projects have included the installation of new sidewalks, picnic areas, and upgrades to existing amenities.
